Orange Bowl

Each year, thousands of football fans flock to the sunshine state to escape winter and start off the new year with their favorite sport. The Orange Bowl plays host to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion (unless they are involved in the national championship) and always proves to showcase some spectacular football. The game has been played annually in Miami for 80 years, a tradition that many look forward to year after year.

Sugar Bowl

Tied with the Orange Bowl and the Sun Bowl for the second-oldest bowl game in the country, the Sugar Bowl celebrates its 81st anniversary in 2015. The Sugar Bowl has something else to celebrate in 2015, as it will play host to one of two national semifinal games under college football’s new playoff format. The Sugar Bowl takes place annually in alluring New Orleans, and never fails to be a highlight of bowl season.

Fiesta Bowl

As the name implies, the Fiesta Bowl is always a great time! Making its home in Phoenix, the Fiesta Bowl usually features the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) champion. The second-youngest of the Bowl Championship Series games, it’s proven itself to have all the thrills and excitement of its older siblings.

Rose Bowl 

Witness the Granddaddy of Them All!

Commonly referred to as “the granddaddy of them all,” the Rose Bowl is the oldest college bowl game, and its popularity has continued to grow over the years. In 2015, the Rose Bowl will take on new significance as it will host the first of two semifinal games under the new college football playoff system. Under the new system, the semifinal games will rotate with the Rose Bowl hosting every three years until 2024. Whether it’s hosting a semifinal or not, the Rose Bowl will continue to be known as one of the most thrilling bowl games of the season, though the semifinal years will add some extra excitement to the game.

Many will argue that there is no better place to ring in the new year than in sunny Pasadena at the city’s Tournament of Roses. Though the Rose Bowl is the highlight of the event, the Tournament of Roses Parade is a spectacle in itself, with dozens of awe-inspiring floats and marching bands. An estimated 700,000 spectators pack the parade route each year, but Roadtrips will get you above the crowd with (optional) reserved seats in a premium grandstand.
